On this day:

Pinewood 10k (9 Miles Total)

A rather disappointing run today on many levels, but first the key details:

1.5 Mile Warmup in older NB 832's
Pinewood 10k, 34:48, in Saucony Fastwitch
(3:20, 3:24, 3:28, 3:31, 3:34, 3:27, 3:23, 3:31, 3:33, 3:33)
1.5 Mile Cooldown in older NB 832's
9 Miles Total

The main reason this run was disappointing for me was not because of the time, but because of the course. It was advertised as flat & fast, unfortunately it was anything but. For starters it was as hilly as the Wargrave 10k. Secondly it was bloody windy. Finally, due to the strange quality distribution of the field (I was 5th, but isolated, hence out of the prizes but nobody to draught off), I was left somewhat dismayed. The time itself, although well off my best, was no worse than anybody in the top four places ran, the winner aiming for a sub 32:00 (I overheard) but only attaining 33:27. A lass I was running with was aiming for sub 35:00, but ended up dropping out, such were the conditions! I was really disappointed at an opportunity missed, I could have got some decent training in, or a real fast race in today. Of some consolation was the fact my ankle didn't hurt before, after or during the race! 'Woohoo...' We also acquired some decent photo's of my running action, and I seemed to maintain decent running form right to the end of the race - well at least from the hips down. My arms looked somewhat ragged, but perhaps that can be improved, or perhaps it's to be expected at the end of a tough 10k?
