On this day:

Hamstrung! Getting to the bottom of this knee injury...

Having tried out the foam roller for stripping the ITB and stretching my iliotibial tract & it having made little or no difference, I got the anatomy text book out (yay, my Human Biology degree finally proved useful!). Of all the muscular insertions into the knee, the only one I haven't considered in the pathology of this niggle is the hamstring. After having the M.P.U. help me do some P.N.F. stretching on it this evening, the difference to my levels of knee pain at rest, and during movement, is remarkable. It would surprise me if this was the prime cause of my problem. I'm also going to use the foam roller to massage this group, as it's something I can do by myself to positively affect my recovery.
