Best miler ever? Please vote

Please leave your vote and reason in the comments box, My vote has to be Herb Elliott, retired at 23(?) un-defeated. In the days when there was serious competition over the mile distance.

Comments:
I think my only mile race at Hexham in 1997 when I ran 5.10 in the rain to finish second last has to take my vote!

Good time, but we need a name for you to be considered an all time great.

My vote for El G. Single handedly taken the times achieved in the mile to new realms. Has even changed the way we dissect the event IMO.

Pls excuse my ignorance, but I don't really know any milers - so I will have to say Rob Prady ;-)

Wont be to suprised if you are my only vote :@< lol xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ovett, was world class at every event from 400m-half marathon. He won the Blackpool half marathon a week before going to Moscow, in the days when you had to be good to win races in this country.

What are you saying? I've won races in this country.
